1. Pride goes before a fall

There was a famous sculptor. His statues appeared almost alive. He was very proud of his skill.
He grew old. He realized that he was going to die soon. He decided to escape death by confusing the messengers of the god of death. He made ten statues of himself and went and stood among them.

The Yamadhootas came to his house. They were surprised to see eleven persons looking alike. They could not identify the real man for whom they had come. They were in a dilemma. If they went back without taking his life, they would be breaking the rules of creation. If they broke the statues, it would be an insult to the wonderful art.
Suddenly one of the Yamadhootas remembered that human beings are filled with ego. He said loudly, “These statues are very beautiful. But there is a small flaw. If only I could get to see the sculptor, I would tell him what it is.”
The sculptor who heard this was hurt. How could there be a flaw in his art? He asked involuntarily, “What kind of flaw?”
Immediately, the Yamadhoot caught hold of his hand and said, “This is it. In your pride, you forgot the fact that statues do not talk.”
